almost every morning, German time, I've problem to go in to the forum. Simple no connection. Could somebody tell we why?

I think our logging on time, in Western Europe, is the time when the site maintenance is done - I often get the message " the server is busy - try again later" or something similar ( which of course I do ). Don't tell me I'm wrong Bruce - you would shatter my illusions about how clever I am to guess that.....

I get this around 5pm NZ time, i think its all you guys logging in lol! Also i think that visitors also clog up the server.....

Mine happens around 5:00 a.m. EST time in the US

Haha... well, it is in fact server maintenance. We fully back up the site twice each day and make a partial backup mid-day as well. I have set the times to the lowest activity times, but, depending where in the world you are, it could be the exact time you would have time to login. Sorry.

I wish there was a quicker way to back up the site, but it simply takes time. The good news is that we always have a copy of the site that is never more than 12 hours old. The size of our community and the amount of photographs and data is really amazing, but to ensure the safety of the material, we do regular backups and virus scans each day.

BD, mid-night US time would be OK, It's 6 or 7 am in the Europe, people here are still sleeping or having breakfast and mid-day in Asia, also people there are having lunch.
