I have had such bad luck with phals that I have basically given up on growing them. However, I discovered that in my climate its best to remove most of the sphagnum and grow them in a larger pot with lots of air. Since, I water 1x a week in hot weather this works best for me. I have been babying this thing for a while and this is the first perfect blooming I have ever had! I normally receive 4-5 blooms. I crammed the plant into a 6" pot to bring inside. It has been in my house for over a month and hasn't dropped a single bud. Its a dtps orglade puff hybrid and the flowers are HUGE. I'm going to red tag it and keep it with my other special phals.

Perfectly amazing. I hope I can get mine to do that. Its in the warming phase right now and developing new leaves but no blooms yet.
Thank you. I have always been envious of greenhouse growers that can produce magnificent phals. This took a lot of nurturing. All my plants are outdoor grown. I had to make sure they don't get crown rot, since I am heavy handed with water I have also added styrofoam popcorn to the pots to anchor. Normally I wouldn't bother with them but this one had good parents Normans Mist x dtps OrgladesPuff

I don't have all the names to mine yet (I know most of them I just haven't listed them) but If you want to see some greenhouse and inhouse pics you should view my post (if you haven't already).
Awesome!!! Congrats!
Wonderful job!!
I grow only a few Phals for they are not doing well in my conditions. I grow my plants outside all year around. I guess my Phals don't like high humidity or\and hot temperatures. They usually get leaf spotts and eventually die. But your plant makes me consider another effort!
Seriously, the blooming is stunning. I especially like the arrangement. Your Phal reminds me some World Class specimens. Congratulations!!
Kspalding I looked at some of your posts and your plants are beautiful. It must be so much fun learning all the tricks of the trade. I have unwittingly killed many of mine through ignorance. This is such a great group of people
