New phal orchid owner HELP needed!!

Hello all I'm Sam. I have a phal orchid that my sister gave me for Mothers Day several years ago. Since then I have done nothing but watered it and kept it in my Master bath. It seem to love it there because it lived. It recently started to have babies. (Like 4)I have since fallen in love with it. I pinced 1 off to soon and it died. Another i repotted and is now suffering from root rot. There are 2 more and I am so affraid that I might kill them. The Mother Orchid is doing well. Please help me with my Orchid. I am clueless

Hi, Sam! Welcome to our group! Glad to have you here!!! Can you post picture of your babies? About the one still trying to survive- I would remove it from the pot, pour some peroxide over the roots and leave it for a few days bare root. Just spray the roots with rain water and make sure the humidity is high. Best of luck!

Thanks Margo for the help. I will take it out the pot and try the peroxide. how long do I leave it out of the pot?? As far as the root rot. I left out a little some thing... The roots are nothing more than strings left... I wanna cry. I took the pics just not sure how to upload them to this site.

Thanks! I think all the positive feedback from you guys may have helped me out. I took it out of the pot and it looks as if new root buds are forming at the base of the orchid. I will post pics tomorrow. Thanks again.

I am not an expert, but I have grown Phals. for 10+ years. People tend to over-water their "babies". If you keep it in the bathroom do not water it until it is very dry and the pot feels very light. It is so easy to get excited when you see something new - overwater. The keikis (baby plants) the plant is sending out suggests that you have been doing a good job. It may just need a little bit of in-attention! Small babies or keikies can be very hard to handle. Keep the last 2 on the plant. Once the parents roots are green/white again, repot and then, just sing to the plant in the shower. Everything will be okay!

Rosalia, The hydrogen peroxide is a three percent solution that can be purchased from the medical section of large box stores, or from pharmacies. Active ingredient: HydrogenPeroxide 3%. At this strength, there is no need to dilute, use it straight from the bottle. I lay my orchid in a bowl, and pour over the roots. Let it set and fizz. It will not be hurt by leaving it to soak a long time (hours) because the Hydrogen Peroxide breaks down to Hydrogen gas and water.
