Need Your Help : Phal losing leaves

I received a beautiful, blooming Phal several months ago. It's home has been in a bathroom next to an East facing window. I was watering once a week and sometimes once every two weeks. The blooms lasted a long time and I lost one leaf after it turned yellow. I was out of town this weekend and now it has lost two leaves and they turned dark brown before falling off.

I read on the forums this morning that it could be planted in moss that holds the moisture and rots the plant. Well, I pulled it out of the plastic container and it was planted in moss. I have removed all the moss and used alcohol to remove the white spores on the stem. Should I try to repot or is it a goner?? I have the roots airing out as you can see in the pictures. What should I do next? I read that I should clean with Physan 20 to remove the fungus. Do you agree?

i would cut off the spikes, the plant is already stressed out, get rid off the dead roots and keep the plant outside and dry for a few days, then repotting with little water. make sure the plant gets enough airflow.

sorry, i dont have any advice as for using chemicals.

Those roots look mostly gone, so definitely cut off anything that is rotten. And the stem doesn't look promising either. If you don't still have any good roots this will be a long haul if you do manage to save it; it may be too late though. Sorry!

I generally make a point of repotting all purchases immediately, even if it does hurt the flowers a bit, but in the end I am more likely to actually get to keep the plant.

Repot in orchid bark mix with some Styrofoam peanuts at the bottom for drainage. And very VERY important, do not water this frequently no matter how sad it looks. Keeping it wet will only speed the process.

in a bark mix. I agree with the others. Cut the flower spikes off and let this plant grow some roots. Good luck.

I'm not an expert, but if it were my plant, I would cut off all of the rotted roots and the stems. Clean with hydrogen peroxide, then try sphag and bag. When I use the sphag and bag method, the plant is not in direct contact with the sphagnum.

I have cut off the stems and trimmed all the dead roots and cleaned with Hydorgen Peroxide. There are 4 -5 yellow roots that seem to be pretty fleshy. I will re-pot in bark mix today. I do not know what the sphag and bag method is. Can someone provide directions?

It will be a miracle if I save this plant, but I'm going to do everything I can to try (with your help). Thank you!!

Quickly Cut the flower spikes off and look roots populatıon I thınk you lost waterıng schudle because always decıde a day of week and waterıng same day my waterıng day ıs every frıday.

The original sphag and bag method is to place the sick plant in a sealed plastic bag planted in damp sphagnum moss. I use a variation where I place the plant on top of slightly damp sphagnum in a container (fish tank works great) with a small opening for some air circulation. Basically what I try to do is increase humidity but still have venting so that mold doesn't grow. Keep the tank warm and less intense light than you would use for a healthy plant.

I'm very far from being an expert, but I think it needs more air circulation than could be provided if it is in bag. Besides that I only tried bags for cattleyas and dendrobiuns.
