curious about trying out a paph. sanderianum hybrid

Im thinking about trying one of the Paphiopedilum sanderianum primary hybrids (so far i love prince edward of york, michael koopowitz)
SO.... to the questions now
-what sanderianum hybrids would be less of a challenge to grow?

-Where should i grow them?

-How should i grow them?

Michael koopowitz seems to be pretty easy. They can be expensive if they are big enough to bloom. If you get a seedling, they can take a few years to bloom.

I've got a Paph Oberhausen's Diament x P. sanderianum (75% sanderianum) that I bought as a large seedling in 2008. It's growing in silica rock, and it seems to be pretty happy. During the non-winter months, I grow it on the windowsill on a pebble tray. I water roughly twice a week with distilled water and fertilize lightly once a week during active growth. It has about an 11 inch leaf span now, so it's awhile from blooming. Seems to put out at least 2 new leaves per year, but overall it's a pretty slow grower. You should probably top off the media with oyster shell or another calcium source also.

Paph. Landmark is an easy and fast growing sanderianum hybrid.

I am not too experienced with sanderianums. I am currently growing a michael koopowitz. My advice is to grow other orchids while you patiently wait for this one. That will keep you much more distracted from the waiting. Most of these plants take a number of years to bloom. I hope it is nearly time for mine to set sheath. Sanderianum season is right now! My blooming sized plant has now set a new growth, maybe soon.

I suspect that a cross with a paph in the section cochlopetalum in it might be faster or easier. Perhaps a Paph Oberhausens Diament. Paph Oberhausens Diament crossed back with a sanderianum might have longer petals if that cross has been done.

oh I just realized paph paph. Landmark (as suggested above by Tom) is also a cochlopetalum (glaucophyllum) crossed with sanderianum

But with the new plant, a new question has arrived as well.
- Should I repot it now or later ??

It is always a good idea to repot if possible. This way you know what the root situation is and that the orchid will be growing in a medium that meets your watering schedule.
