gulaman(agar-agar) as culture media

i am confusing about using a simple agar agar( gulaman) as seed culture medium.........other than food preoeration

The agar is added to make semi solid the liquid solution of fertilizer and sugar that is used to provide food and nutrients for the germinating seeds and small plants. This is done in sterile conditions or the molds and bacteria would take over and spoil the seeds.
