At the moment I am coelogyne less (aside from asperata), so when given the
chance to get try it again I immediately grabbed it. I think its sparsa, tho not
sure. I hope I wont kill this one this time around.

Love the shape and coloration. Nice one!
nice one randy! looks like c.sparsa, from what i googeled.
thanks Ron, it also matches my C. sparsa, that i've lost during the summer. My growing
conditions is a lot better now so Im hoping that I wont end up killing this.
Beautiful. I love coelogynes.
Hi Randy,
Your plant is Coelogyne chloroptera. Coel. sparsa has pure white flowers on an arching inflorescence.
All the best,
Jim Cootes
Thanks Jim for the ID....
thanks jim!
once again, the internet info is often misleading or completely wrong.
Randy I have this chloroptera and I would say that it is a prolific bloomer once it gets established.
Do not overwater it as this likes to be on the dry side and dry out between waterings. Keep in a brightly lit location but out of full sun or high temperatures. I grow mine under shade where it won't get too wet everytime it rains and to keep it cool and out of direct sunlight but it gets plenty of bright light though.
I potted mine in hydrocorn pellets since a lot of coelogynes are lithopytes. Mine appears to be doing well and likes the media I used.
p.s. I've got the c. pandurata and c. merillii as well. Specially the merillii which is so fragrant ....
