NOID paphios

Got these from a vendor who brought them in from neighbouring Thailand 6 months ago. This is the second time they have bloomed in my place. The only info I had from the vendor is that both are niveum crosses.They are easy to grow here and seem to be very free-flowering. In fact another spike is coming up from the first plant and that will make 3 bloomings in 6 months.

I was in Singapore for 2 weeks and during that time it was raining here almost every day, thus the damaged petals on the second plant.Both plants exhibit the niveum trait of a second flower after the first has matured or dropped off. The flowers are relatively big 3.5 inches (9 cm) on the first plant and 3 in (8 cm) on the second.

Yew, the first Paph looks very similar to a cross I had a long time ago, P. Tautzianum = barbatum x niveum. Maybe a similar cross.

The second, looks like a P. godefroye cross but thats all I can offer here.

Thanks Roy and Zainal. Trying to contact a friend who regularly visits Thai nurseries and who may be able to help. I understand he recently imported some paphs from Thailand so a visit to his place is scheduled. A seedling I got from him 2 years ago Paph liemianum x spicerianum is putting out a flower sheath now. Wonder what it would look like.

Yew, if you google, Paph. Zollingeri, it will give you an idea of what it will be like. I would think the color of yours will be softer though.

Thanks Roy. I googled and thought that Zollingeri looked quite attractive. I'd imagine it would look quite similar seeing as liemianum bears a resemblance to victoria-regina. I'm pleasantly surprised the cross is putting out a sheath because liemianum is supposed to like more intermediate to cool conditions but I suppose spicerianum might have imparted the warmth tolerant to the cross. Jusy hope the bud/s won't blast.
