This last one shows the lip "sprung". The lip of Porroglossums is like a spring trap. When a bug disturbs it, it snaps shut, pollinating the bloom. I have no idea what the bug gets out of the deal!

It's been pretty easy to grow, too. I made a very small tree-fern pot by cutting a chunk from a thick slab and drilling a hole about 3/4 of the way down. The plant is potted in sphagnum in the pot. As I re-mount plants, I'm switching to a spun plastic webbing. It has the advantages of never decomposing and holding water constantly through its life cycle. I plant moss on all my mounts for aesthetics. The way I do this is to put some live moss, some sphagnum and some water in the blender. I chop it all up (consistency of medium-thick soup) and swish the mounts through it. Within a month or so, the moss starts growing.
I water daily. All my plants are in a 30-gallon terrarium. The way I've got it set up is that I have a layer of expanded styrene florist's foam on the bottom of the tank. I covered that with a thin layer of coir (chopped coconut husk fiber) and then planted it with moss. I poke a piece of stiff wire or a bamboo skewer into the bottom of the mount and then stick that through the moss into the styrene sheet. I vary the lengths of the wires/skewers based on how much light they need. The plants that want a little more light go to the back, and the ones with the lowest requirement are in front. This way I can see them all from the front.
