Vanda Question

Does anyone know offhand what is the parentage of V. lamellata? My sister-in-law had one and lost it due to a massive freeze in her greenhouse (Boy is her gas company getting a rather large bill to replace the orchids lost while she was on vacation!) and the culture tag is faded. Specifically, it's V. lamellata var. bopallii. Thanks!

V. lamellata is a species and not a hybrid thus i dont think parentage applies... (I could be wrong of course). Also I am not aware of a var bopallii, there is however V. lamellata var boxali.
As for culture, keep them warm with lots of light and water and high humidity. Hope this helps.

Hey Leslie, you got it right in using the lower case letter l for lamellata. This is how a species name should be written according to the law ( The International Rules of Botanical Nomenclature - no less). A hybrid has the name written with an upper case letter. So - Vanda Sunray, Vanda lamellata......
