Coelogyne Unchained Melody

Bought many years ago as a threebulb seedling under the name of the species C.mossiae. But all the experts ( and I have a Coelogyne friend with over a hundred species...) say that they believe that the true mossiae is not in cultivation - and they send me copies of the herbaria sheets to prove that maybe there is no such thing anyway ... and that my plant is the hyubrid under the name I give.
Whatever, like all white coelogynes, it's a sweet thing, nice perfume too; easy grower, rapidly fills large pans, and becomes an embarassment... This plant now in a 15 inch pan, growing two ways, maybe half a dozen spikes on each side. Major repot coming up !

VERY nice geoff, this is my fav, behind corymbosa.
the corymbosa is the only coelogyne i have, but i would like more.
envy is building!

This one came from a certain NZ orchid nursery- I bought lots from him. Alas, our CITES fees in Uk have killed that, but maybe he is not in business any more since I didn't see him when I went to Germany last year and there were traders there from many other countries.

Geoff: As a asides, may I ask how many orchids approximately you raise? I am curious because I notice you can post photos nearly every day and I would think it would take a lot of plants to do that. Also what is your oldest orchid? Thanks and I hope I am not pestering you. AL

I have a 35 foot long greenhouse, 15 feet wide, crammed with plants on the benches, and with almost as many hanging from 8 wires running the length of the greenhouse ; I don't count up , but certainly more than one thousand, certainly less than 3000 , and somewhere in between ; 1800 or so at a guess.So If I haven't got say 50 plants in flower, coming into flower, or going over, any day of the year , I am disappointed.

I love Coelogynes but sadly I don't have a white one as most of the whites seem to be from areas with cooler conditions than I can provide.

This one is awesome!

Flowers still look good - quite longlasting. Also perfumed.
