I have quite a few orchids. one of those collector syndrome. ..

question about the lighting. I currently have my orchids by a window sill facing east. now im in canada so we have a cold winter but i was thinking of setting up a shade tent in my backyard for them during summer days.

is that a good idea ? would the plants die if i bring them back in t he house ?

advice would be appreciated.
