Same here...so, I tend to think of them as "difficult to impossible". When my son went to college in Oregon though, there were hedges made out of red & white camellias. Grrrr.

How hard do you prune and do you do this after they stop blooming.

I prune back occasionally since mine are planted under some second story windows. If you prune you do it right after blooming so they can grow out and set new buds. I may have pruned 3-4 times in the 14 years I've lived here.

Jeff, never thought that Maryland and Arkansas would be in the same growing zone. We are zoned 7 also here in the part of my state.
