Please any advice on this Cattleya

Has had this SLC Cattleya DREAM CATCHER for 2 months now, its not doing well. Today whilst watering I noticed that the upcoming bud to be has turned brown and rotted , this is a new psudobulb!!! I'v deeply upset what are the growing conditions? I have it in bright indirect light , temperature in my room is 16- 19 celcius, I live in Auckland , New Zealand should this orchid be outside? I don't want it to die soon ..

Well, it could be lack of humidity. Catts like lots of indirect light, warmth and humidity. I would suggest you remove the bud and peel back the sheath were it is turning brown and remove that. Buds can dry up quickly without humidity.

These can bloom from immature growths, as this one has, and the buds will emerge from the developing growth before the sheath. It is very easy to trap water in the leaf while watering. Increased air circulation could help. I don't think your temperature is an issue. Remove the bud and slit the brown leaf bract down to the base of the leaf.

I do have it resting above a humidity tray, i will try moving it closer to a window to recieve more light...

Make sure while sitting on the tray...that it isn't sitting in water. That is an easy mistake that can be made.
I know here in the states just about any 2nd hand store has a used humidifier for sale for a couple of $$. They are not all that expensive new as well. You can run it on a timer and it will take care of your issues with not enough moisture.

I agree with Michael to some extent. It is not less humidity but excess moisture or water in the developing tip that caused the rotting of the bud. But I also think it has got to do with temperatures 16-19 oC is not ideal for Catts (but ambient for most fungii), at these temperatures water does not dry out quickly leaving the foliage and the growth tips wet for too long, plenty of air movement will help and so will a bit more warmth.
