Default Selection of orchids from Longwood Gardens 10.3.11

These are a few of the better shots I took of the orchids at Longwood - it wasn't a terribly extensive exhibit and I didn't have my tripod, so the quality isn't as good as I'd like, but there are some interesting ones here.

I only wish I could send you ANY of these, but they belong to the Longwood Garden collection in Kennett Square, PA. I have to content myself with owning and sharing the photographs. There was another dendrobium noid that was almost indigo-violet - gorgeous, but it was placed so that, without my tripod, I couldn't get an acceptably clear shot of it - but the color was breathtaking. At least half the orchids in Longwood's exhibit were either untagged, or simply said "Unknown hybrid" - wouldn't you think a world-renowned conservatory could do better in the id department than THAT? I found it very frustrating that so many blooms went un-named. Still fabulous just the same, though....
