Lycaste aromatica
This is the first Lycaste I have tried. I can not take credit for these blooms as I just got it in bloom this weekend. The similarity of its scent to cinnamon really is uncanny.
I have been told to keep it watered and fertilized right through its growth and blooming cycle, until its new pseudobulb is plump. Around this time, in the fall, the foliage will start to brown and eventually fall off completely. It needs to then be kept very minimally watered the entire winter until the new growth is seen in the Spring, when the regular watering/fertilizing starts up again. The flowers are borne singly and they last one to as long as two months in good conditions. They always emerge as the new foliage is in growth, before the pseudobulb expands.
