I just received my very first Vanda orchid yesterday morning! It had been in a box for about 3 days from shipping. I immediately soaked the roots in some water since they looked quite dry. Then placed it in the clear plastic strainer part of a glass tea pot put some warm water in the outer part so it will get more humidity( hard to explain vanda is not siting in water see photo). Roots looked relatively clean but a little on the light green side. I placed it in a window were it would get filtered light ( i want to ease it into more light slowly) The humidity is about 55-75% . At Night time ( right after the run goes down) I place it on the humidifier on top but not in the steam or anything . The temp is about 75-85 and humidity is VERY HIGH. I live in Washington so the night time temp in the window gets kind of chilly 59-65. To cold for the Vanda.

This morning i notice that there is some brown stuff on the roots. Looks and feels just like peat moss. It was not there when i went to bed last night. Is it mold or bugs or something ? There are also some white marks on the roots It looks kind of like scale but its way to translusent and when you go to pick them off they apear to be the skin on the roots that is almost bubbled up a liite like a skin blister. Could that have been from being shipped? Any and all advice or help is most appreciated. I want to take as good of care of my Vanda as possible.
