Sad phal

Hey all. I have a phal (noid) that I "saved" from a grocery store. When I got it, it had serious root damage, so I repotted, cut away dead roots and waited. It was almost in bloom when I bought it (there were several buds) and, surprisingly, even after the initial repotting and root cutting it bloomed beautifully and experienced NO bud blasting. Now, a few months later, the blooms have died off, and I can finally deal with the fact that it has few roots. I just repotted it again into a teeny-tiny pot, trimmed away any icky roots, applied cinnamon to the roots, and cut back the stem to the node before the last bloom. I guess what I'd like to know is, should I just cut off the whole stem and give the plant time to develop new roots again? Or, should I give it a chance to bloom again and see what happens? If I let it try to bloom again, could I over-work the plant? Keep in mind, this baby had substantial root damage and had to be cut back dramatically..... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I vote for giving it a rest. It's done remarkably well considering all it had gone through. Let it grow some roots and get some strength. You can then look forward to lots of blooms in the future.

Sounds like you know the answer to your question...Cut it back. Once rested, it will produce fuller blooms than the ones you are likely to get from prolonging the blooming on this spike. My vote: Give it a rest.
