today's catch! i really just went for a water basin!

no, really, i just went to get a water basin to collect the drip from a new AC drain hose that was causing issues on my balcony... but with that bulbo poll fresh in my mind AND mt new found hobby of replacing all the plants in my planter boxes with sun tolerant orchids... i managed to come home with a rather nice selection...and as always, it was CHEAP!




so here's what i got:
Bulbophyllum facetum
Bulbophyllum carunculatum
bulbophyllum cheiri
Aerides noid (as of now)
2 encyclias
and a perfectly healthy phal that i found in the trash AT THE FLOWER MARKET!!!
I LOVE TAIWAN!!!

Hi Shane congratulations for the great haul so nice, I always observed your comments very cheap, very cheap means that your luck always there, he,he,he. For the Aeredis it's very easy to grow use a basket with good drainage and small amount of sphagnum moss to maintain humidity for the first 4 to 8 weeks to encourage roots formation than as usual fertilizer.

thanks zain! i kind of mounted it in a rather strange way, i'll take a picture and show you what ive done... it's not a basket but its very airy ;-)
oh, and as for the cheap part... like ive said before, it's a pretty good life for the orchidoholic over here... in US$ each one of those bulbos cost about $1.50 each and the aeredis was $4... and the phal was in the trashcan!!! i call that pretty cheap!!! hehehe!

Nice buy. The Aerides looks rather battered, I would put something like coconut husk or moss around its roots till it gets established, plain mounting will further stress the plant.
