    I mainly grow Gesneriad species. A friend gave me a rhizome of this Swedish hybrid. Large showy blooms.

    It appears small in the photo, but I really have no concept of scale for this Gesneriad bloom. How large is it? I like the bright colors. Looks like something the humming birds here would love.

    They are pollinated by hummingbirds in the wilds of South America and Mexico. Close relatives are bat pollinated. I've read the Kohleria might be to.

    I have never heard of the Gesneriad species. Is there a common name that I might recognise?
