Cymbidium 911

Hi, folks! I'm brand new here, and already yelling "help"!
I just inherited what I believe are 2 Cymbidiums. Both are in 4" pots.

#1 - This is the one in the worst shape. I re-potted to 70% red bark and 30% commercial orchid mix in an effort to save, but it may be too late.

#2 - This little guy is holding his own - but no new growth.

I've seen posts outside RVO's that state watering the pseudo bulbs is a no-no - true?
Just tried uploading pix, and it's not working, so will keep trying...
Any and all help would be appreciated!

Check out this post about Attaching Photos.

Also, unless I'm missing something (which often IS the case ) you don't have cymbidiums. You probably have some type of oncidium. Cymbidiums don't have p-bulbs. And when I water either cymbidiums or oncidiums - I spray down and soak the entire plant and medium it is potted in.

I hope you can get some photos posted. It will be easier to offer sound advise based on your exact orchids.

Not sure if I would agree with you BD that Cyms don't have pseudobulbs. The swollen, above-ground structures where the leaves grow from are considered p-bulbs.

And such is the naming of structures.... Either way, the question about watering seems to be the issue. What is your take, Ron?

hopefully he can post pictures. At the greenhouse, all is watered with a hose...therefore whole plant gets watered. At home, I tend to water medium. So it doesn't matter as long as there is good air circulation so leaves dry
