Vandas in wooden baskets

I purchased this vanda and three other cuttings last year from THE vanda expert (not sure if I can say his name LOL) at the Redlands show here in Miami. I put each of them in slatted wooden baskets and they seem to be doing well -- with new roots and leaves. My question is, is it ok that their roots have wrapped around and attached to the slats? Most of the other vandas that I've bought or seen have the roots just hanging. Will being in the baskets like this affect long term growth and ability to bloom in any way? If so, should I try to gently pry the roots off of the wood where I can?

Nope. Leave them as they are. It is the orchids way of anchoring itself. If an orchid doesn't feel anchored, it won't bloom, as I understand it.

I agree with Harvey, that is what the roots do on many orchids planted in baskets, don't worry those roots will eventually start hanging.

Leave them as is and it would be good and don't disturb the established roots. Roots are the best indicators of Vanda's health and if the roots are happy the chances of blooming are much higher.
