You've got a pretty reedstem epidendrum hybrid there. There are hundreds of named hybrids that look similar to yours, so it's difficult to say exactly which one it is. Recently nurseries and garden centres have been selling many unnamed hybrids produced for the mass market in Holland and the far east (they treat them in the same way as mass produced phalaenopsis, most of which are now produced and sold as unnamed hybrids too), so I wouldn't worry too much about getting the exact name for it. They are pretty tough and can be grown in either epiphytic compost or in soil like any normal terrestrial. They are used as border plants in frost free climates, where they like a sunny spot, sheltered from strong winds and ideally among other plants (which help to keep them upright, as they tend to flop over if grown as isolated plants on their own).

Thank you very much Serama, good enough for me once I know which species it is, I do have it where it is a bit windy an dI have noticed it bending a bit so I will tie it to a wooden skewer so that it would not break off, I have another one also in a hanging basket and there are two plants there waiting to see what it will bare too. Thanks again.

Well folks just thought I would post this final pic of the flowers, lovely bunch it is![]()
