catasetum integerrimum and catasetum Chong Keng Yong (hermaphrodite)

this is the fourth spike of my catasetum integerrimum and the other plant is actually a hermaphrodite of my ctsm Chong Keng Yong. this combination cross is actually my first catasetum pollination attempt about 2 years ago where i mange to get a single plantlet from symbiotic germination.

this is they second time both of them flowered together, perhaps it is the sign from mother nature saying "Lets give them a second chance". this time i think i will use commercial sowing media.

good luck with the cross. I didn't know Catasetums could have hermaphrodite flowers. I thought the spike was either male or female. Learned something knew.

Only by name hermaphrodite but they do not have both functional stigma or pollen at the same time. the hermaphordite can take any percentage of male or female in it but most of the time the pollen and trigger pollina is absent but with a stigmatic cavity.
literature said hermaprhodite are infertile but i had successful symbiotic germination from a hermaphrodite pod before (maybe lower percentage of embryonated seedlings as compare to normal?)
