Dracula box failing, help!

Hello Orchid Community!

I have recently come into several Dracula Simia, Lotax, and Cordobae. I have them in net pots stuffed with shredded sphagnum moss that I'm keeping moist. I keep all of these buried in a bed of shredded sphagnum box in a giant tuperware tub that sits open on top under my cfl lights on my grow rack.

They are starting to look a little limp and yellow. I'm wondering what pH my substrate/water should be. What do I need to do to convert my orchid box to a more succesful growing box?

I would suggest posting a picture or two of your set-up as well as including your culture conditions (how often you water, what temps, wattage of lighting and proximity to light).

I have NO experience of Draculas- so bear that in mind- I only write because that sounds WAY too much moss: too damp for too long... so the yellowing and limpness could indicate dehydration: you could be suffering root loss- you must take a look at the roots immediately in any case.

these species are cool growing species that like high humidity. Your profile does not give me an idea on where you are located. Here the temps are getting warmer. It is difficult to meet their requirements without some sort of enclosed growing box or greenhouse. The medium should be moist but not soggy, the humidity should be 60 - 90% with good air circulation. Temps should not get above 70 F

Hi Ron, I'm in Columbus Ohio. I have them in an indoor growbox it stays between 69-71 degrees and 76 humidity all the time. It seems like I may have whiffed on soil, as my soil is pretty soggy. What kind of substrate and fertilizer schedule do you recommend?
