Hello,

Two of my orchids have leaf...problems? Just developing. One has a few bottom leaves turning dry and brown, with dark splotches. The other has leaves turning yellow, first from the outsides, then the centers, some splotching there too. Anyone know what this means?

I've ordered some physan but have never used it before. The warnings scare me! Do I need to use it on these orchids? If so, is spraying them enough? Should I cut off the discolored leaves?

I've only had these orchids for a couple months, purchased from a very reputable nursery in town, which seems a lot of orchids. Each appear to have somewhat different potting mixtures, of the usual proper types of ingredients. So it seems they know what they are doing re potting. I have been watering these orchids approx every ten days, by pouring water through them and letting them drain. They seem to drain quite well, the potting mixtures don't hold water, yet they stay slightly moist when you push your finger down into the mix.
