I have looked around on the web and on my orchid wiz program and I think I have a name for my noid. I am wondering if it is Laelia purpurata (v. sanguinea x v. flammea) 'Ching Hua'. My biggest concern is the lack of color in the throat that would normally appear on these. However, it is the closest I have come and every time I see this cross I immediately go looking for the pictures' name and it ends up being the sanguinea-flammea cross. The plant with the 'Ching Hua' name looks like it's dead on to me. I have made a tag stating it was a noid when purchased from my friend. Considering the quality of her plants I am thinking this could be it...or something else extremely similar.
The flowers are 7 inches across this time and have the most amazing scent. It has it's area filled with perfume.
I moved the plant back into the shade and it completely changed the color of the flowers. I am wondering if this plant may have a smidge of blue to it...that or it's just the way the light was hitting the flowers. Whatever...it was a cool effect.
