    Default Paph wenshanense and relatives

The weather here has been truly horrid the last few weeks; rainy and hardly any sun. I can't spray pesticide on my orchids and thrips and yellow beetles and mealy bugs have played havoc with the flowers and spikes. A few of the paphs have succumbed to fungal rot. I'm really worried about the emerging spikes of my various Rhy gigantea and wonder whether they'll make it to blooming time.

However, this fortnight I was rewarded with these Paphios all blooming at the same time. The one with the largest flower is Paph wenshanense, believed by many to be a natural hybrid of Paph concolor and Paph bellatulum. Actually the man-made hybrid of concolor and bellatulum has been registered as Paph Conco-bellatulum. Some taxonomist insist that Paph wenshanense is just a larger form of Paph concolor.
This particular Paph bellatulum is a poor form of the species. I have 2 other bellatulum with bigger size and better form but are not as free flowering as this one.
