It seems that I will only ever get one plant flowering at any one time... so this month's special is none other than....
Dendrobium chrysanthum Wallich ex Lindley 1828
A species with a wide distribution from the Himalayan foothills of India to South-east Asia, growing epiphytically or as lithophytes on limestone cliffs and sometimes even as terrestrials.
The plant can be up to 150cm tall, but has a pendant habit, which may be better accomodated in a basket... of course I just tie them to a point and then let them arch from there...
The bloom season is generally from summer to autumn, but plants may bloom sporadically throughout the year... Slightly fragrant reminiscent of peaches...
