Lc Paola Matano & Blc Waianae Leopard

Just purchased these two orchids and would like to know if it would be a problem to repot in a basket instead of a plastic pot. The regular pots I use are probably too big.

pot size looks alright to me. you could try mounting them if you have space. they love to be mounted.

I concur with Sriram re the size of the pot - immature plants and seedlings dislike being overpotted. I too am turning to mounting some of my cattleyas and find that that this cuts down the incidence of root rot. Personally I don't like sphagnum as it retains too much moisture.

I would recommend against repotting until they are actively growing new roots. My experience says that is how I killed the catts I have lost.

I second Harvey there, that is how I particularly lost small Cattleyas, when I didn't leave them alone and should have and potted them when they weren't actively growing roots.

They look like they are doing well in the pot size you have them in. Maybe just repot with the medium you like to use in the same pots?
