    Smile Catasetum Frilly Doris 'SVO II AM/AOS x Catasetum denticulatum 'SVO II' AM/AOS

    Finally, it is mostly open.

    Got 11 of 12 buds to bloom stage. The 8 above the blasted bud location on the spike, all opened at the same pace together over a 2 day period. The 3 buds below the bud blast spot, opened a day + later.

    Cool looking flower although I was hoping for brighter coloring.

    Thanks!

    So far, I haven't detected scent but the denticulatum parent is said to have fragrance. I will have to try other times of the day. When is the bee that pollinates them active?

    It is a Fred Clarke mini-hybrid cross.

    Great Job! I am waiting for something else of mine to spike. My dracula spiked but failed to open. I think the temperature was just too hot and it took a bit to cool it down. It is growing very well. Hopefully will spike again soon.
