    Default Renanthera matutina

This very pretty Renanthera matutina is one of our most desirable local species, occurring from our lowlands to about 2000 metres altitude. I can't take credit for blooming it as this is a gift from an acquaintance I had just met for the first time, on my recent holidays to the Cameron Highlands (our local highland resort alt. 5000 feet). Incidentally the same person gave me about 20 other plants: mostly local Bulbophyllums; a Cym chlorantum; a local Grm stapeliiflorum;a couple of Coelogyne; and 2 Paph Gold Dollar, that had been on my wish-list for a long time. He is one of the most generous men I've ever met, and this on our first meeting!

Wow. Stunning Ren.matutiana. Some years back, local seller in KL insisted me to buy this red form seedling size for RM 20 and I refused it and now I regret. Great to know about your new friend and great selection of orchids gifts from him.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments. Yes, that's a very nice and generous friend - I have observed that orchid growers are the nicest people around! It is as if nice people grow orchids,or orchids make people better........ either way it says a lot about our hobby/obssession.
