    Question Spike or New Growth?

    My cool growing Cymbidium has a new projection on it. Most of the new pb growths seem to show the lines that will form leaves. This one doesn't have that structure. Is this a spike? It has been 2 years since I bought it in bloom and it hasn't bloomed since.

    If I were to guess it looks like a spike, but can not say for sure as I don't own any of these and have never grown one. I am sure we will see pictures along the way if it is a spike and we all look forward to seeing them.

    wait about a week and then give the tip a gentle squeeze, If it seems hollow then its a spike, if firm then it will be growth. Here's hoping that Its a spike for you.

    It appears to be hollow. So I am believing it is a spike. Too bad it is growing pointing at another closeby pb. The same pb on this Cymbidium has a second spike growing. It will get a badly needed repot after the bloom cycle completes in the spring.
