Default Epidendrum floribundum x Encyclia cordigera in bloom

I love green orchids and this cross has a very pleasant light green sepals and petals. The lip , however,is a light purple. The flowers open with a light brown mask on the ends of the tepals but this disappears after 2-3 days. the flowers are very pleasantly scented especially in the mornings. The flowers aen't big measuring 4cm across.

That is a very beautiful orchid, Yew. I have one which is starting to bloom ( only three flowers are open ) but is a different cross. Looks much the same; I will take a pic. when more blossoms are open. It is called Encyclia Mabel Kanda "Miyao" Betty

I love this color combination too, and it makes this a pretty distinctive cross, though some of its offspring are nearly identical. And it grows like a weed. Very nice.

Actually, this plant is also Mabel Kanda, but it is correctly Epicyclia Mabel Kanda, not Encyclia. That goes for yours too, espranch.

Epicyclia Mabel Kanda is registered as (Encyclia cordigera x Epidendrum paniculatum). Epidendrum floribundum is considered a synonym for the accepted name Epidendrum paniculatum, and of course the order of the species in the cross makes no difference in the name, so Epicyclia Mabel Kanda all around.

Oh, that is so nice! What a pretty orchid. I really like the purple color in the lip next to the green petals.

    Cheers,

How pretty. The green really makes the purple show beautifully.

As always, your orchids are stunning Yew Sung. With your skill, I think even if I gave you a dead orchid, you could bring it back to life. Your Epidendrum floribundum x Encyclia cordigera sure is a rare beauty, and scented too.
