I'm super busy so I'll put these into one post. The cattleya are beginning to pop in spite of the heat and rain. Another wet spell is coming in a few days so i've been spraying everything and doing random checks for rot. So far so good, although I do have a few flowers that aren't quite right. The Blc Toshie Aoki hybrid is amazing. The plant arrived with a nice collection of bugs hiding in dry matter on pbulbs and I ended up having to do major cleaning on it.I ended up holding two pieces, neither with many roots. I didn't think either would do well so I put them in minimal potting material in a cheap black pots and put them into the shaded transition area for newly repotted plants. To my shock both sections sent out a single bud immediately. I won't leave the flowers on for more than a few days so the plant can concentrate on roots and new growth.
Perfection is showing off again. A storm knocked off the second bud...I put it next to Toshie to show the size of the flowers. Also; Toshie didn't come out exactly right, i'm guessing it's a little stressed. When it's hot my cattleya sometimes don't form just right.
Blc Copper Queen is one of my best bloomers. It will have 9 flowers when the last bud finally opens.
