Looks like a Myrmecophila Lin but I don't grow them so don't know what species. I'm sure someone will.

Kirk will be able to ID it I think. A picture of a flower facing forward and showing the lip would be best. Tall order I know

I think Chris is in the right neighborhood, but he took a left turn when he should have turned right. Myrmecophila used to be part of genus Schomburgkia. This appears to be from the other half of Schomburgkia, the ones that were moved to genus Laelia. Some continue to use Schomburgkia in either case. The very clustered inflorescence and the large bracts are not typical of Myrmecophila.

I would need a better photo showing details of the lip to be at all sure which species. This could perhaps be Laelia (Schomburgkia) splendida, schultzei, superbiens or undulata.

Don't hurt yourself, Chris. You tried. Here's your participation trophy.

If Geoff is thinking undulata that is probably the most likely. He has certainly seen more of these species in person than I have.

Concur with Kirk. Could be one of the species. close up of the lip would help narrow down.

I think undulata. Its a long way from home in Zimbabwe ! Not even sure its in the correct hemisphere ! I have seen it in the Andes in Venezuela.

It would be an import, def. not a local plant!!! But they do well in our climate, as you can see.
