How long do vanda spikes take to form?
Posted via Mobile Device
From inception to blooming? About a month or more, depending upon the conditions, genetics-, and health of the plant.

I have a Princess Mikasa Indigo, it’s been develoing since Jan. 5. 2018. Its been 6 weeks. Ive had spikes in spring and summer but never in winter. Could the temperature and change in culture affect the spike development? I switched it out of a vase to hanging and municipal to distilled water.

Thank you ray. I’ll have to be more patient with this one. This is the “easier” out of all the orchids I have. I recently acquired a Euanthe Sanderiana Var. Alba @ an orchid show. That’ll put me to the test. If I can get it to bloom I’ll make sure to post.

@ keysguy, Thank you for your help. I should’ve known better. Around 2 weeks ago I ordered a stand for my Vandas to hang on but should’ve waited to add this one till the spike had finished. Atm I have it back in its original vase it was in when the spike emerged and same position in my apartment. Hopefully the growth will continue. I will know better for next time to not disturb them in this state.

In theory, they are summer flowering plants. OK, if you grow well, and have enough plants, you will havethem out all the year, but you are "fighting against nature".
