I have a couple of plants . Big sprawling masses of pendant canes, up to 70 or so cm long ; many have produced keikis (?) although no roots, so perhaps they are branches . Several have proced great masses of buds - this is just one mass - one spray , and there are perhaps a dozen sprays on the btter of the two. So may be quite a sight one of these fine days. I would have kept it a bit before posting, but I am just packing up plants for a show, and it won't be available again for another two weeks - by which time, well who knows ; not me.
It does remind me of hercoglossum - same colour, same black eyes ( on Herc' it is the anther tips or perhaps pollinia, for the anther cap is not produced - at least, not on plants I have grown. But rather smaller flowers, even if far more of them.
I like it. Pity it is such a sprawling mess ; I don't think I could get it to display on a medal bench , i.e. the usual monthly or whatever plant table , but in the Society display it will be possible to tuck all the sprawl bits out of sight - I expect.
p.s. looking at it again, I see this is actually svereal spikes, not just one. But the plant has done something similar in a dozen places , which misled me....
