Laelia autumnalis
A freebie, this plant - from an ex-member of my orchid society who gave up growing orchids ( how can anyone do that ?). The third flowering for me, although the first spikes came from the previous owners culture. I reckon my bulbs this year are just about up to the same mass as sthe best previouslyalthough a different shape - taller and slimmer. Both spikes are of 7 buds = flowers. One spike is 3 feet from compost to top of the spike, the other 2 ½ feet. - so not exactly a window-sill plant. But useful in displays, to give height at the back .
I have not mad e up my mind about repotting when it starts into growth again. It is right at the pot edge now, but growing so nicely I am loth to disturb. If it looks to be making more than two growths when it starts, I might repot, taking out that centre leafless back-bulb, and perhaps putting the peices together - three or more growths in that pot would be nice. I don't want a larger pot - might be getting a bit heavy for me to handle.
But what do the cattleya etc experts think ? To repot or not ?
