I am new to orchid propagation. I sent off a seedpod of Vanda scandens and just a few days ago I received word that a reflasking was done and if things turn out right, I may have 100 flasks of about 20 plants per flask of V. scandens.
I am not too worried about that.
On the other hand, Vanda lamellata var remediosae although not common, is not so rare either. I have a seedpod each of that, and one also of Vanda lamellata var boxallii. Flasking in my neck of the woods is not without expenses.
You think it might be worthwhile?
I also have four seedpods of almost pure scarlet-maroon Vanda merrillii (rotorii variant). I don’t think I would have a problem in disposing of those, once flasked.
BTW, the spike here is from a plant that is recovering from a scale infestation, hence the small size and number of blooms. My three stud plants of this variety have spikes about twice the size of this, in terms of number of blooms.
