    Default Water butts

    Does anyone use water butts for watering their 'chids ?
    If so do you use any type of treatment to the water to help prevent algae/slime etc.I found a product called BIOTAL which is especially for treatment of rain water(water butts) & the info that comes with it says it safe for all plants.

    LOL! Thanks, that is much better! I don't have one of those but I do use buckets to collect rainwater and no treatments, just plain old rain water.

    Thanks for the nice picture - that helped a lot!
    I don't either, but just started trying to use more rainwater. The plants are out enjoying a drink now! Mother nature is on my watering schedule this week! LOL!

    Steve, i have one of those "water butts"
    Gosh i'm really making myself vulnerable for some nasty remarks

    I've had it about a month now and so far i haven't noticed algae or slime
    but maybe it hasn't developed yet. I actually never thought about a treatment for rain water.

    I'll have to empty it soon anyway because i didn't buy the foot at the same time. Now the butt is full ( it holds 200 liters of water) and there's no way i can lift it up so i can place the foot under it.
    Now if i want water i just lift up the lid and take it.

    Seriously it,s the long term hygiene i,m concerned with , i suppose i,ll just have to try it & see.Maybe i,ll use it but not as often as reccomended.
