Quick questions:

I bought one of these last month in bloom and it's just now losing it's blooms.
1.)When it's finished blooming, do I cut the spike, or is this one that will re-bloom if left alone?

2.)How long do the blooms typically last? No telling exactly how long she was in bloom before I bought her.

Go ahead and cut the spike when it's done; it's finished. I'd say most of my oncids bloom 3 or 4 weeks. Pretty plant!

Very pretty plant! Yes, I agree. Cut the spike when the flowers fade. You can wait till it turns brown or cut it while it is green. These only bloom from the newest growth. Next years, the blooms will come from the newest Pbulb.

Mine blooms in December and the blooms last six weeks.

Cool! Thanks, all. I should take a shot of the dying blooms. The petals all lose their spotting and and narrow so they look like they have pin-point spots close up.. The lip fades to a cream with purple spotting as opposed to what the original photo shows. It's actually a pretty neat difference.

I think only the last two blooms are left to fade, though I have 6/9 still attached to the spike. The very tip bloom is still in full color while the next one up is about halfway through the petal shrinkage stage.

Is it odd that I get a kick out of how the blooms change when they die?
