Can I trim these

I have three of these box store Phals that I trimed a couple of nodes off of the spike and faked them into reblooming. Each spike now has several active new branches, but the old spike is still there sticking out past the end of the active part. Can I cut that off at this point without disrupting the current flowers?

Go ahead and trim the old spikes; I would. I'm sure it won't affect the new side branches a bit. They look nice, by the way! Do they always grow in that location?

They just get to hang out there sometimes in the evening so I can keep an eye on them. Its going to be getting really warm there soon too!
