Hi everyone. Could someone clarify on wheather my Stanhopea is in fact nigroviolacea as I bought it labelled or tigrina... Seems a bit confusing as flower on friends' plants look fifferent, much darker blotches.

There is often variation in color in blooms between different plants - even from the same flask. I hope someone can help id this one for you. From me, I say simply - It is a beauty!
I bet it has a wonderful fragrance too.

Thanks BD. Yes, you are right...most seedlings tend to be different and different colour forms are everywhere. Will await any further replies and make my mind up on this one, but still believe it to be nigroviolacea.
It does have the most amazing scent, vanilla and spices it reminds me of. Can't wait for more flower spikes to burst open!
