I recently bought an unregistered oncidium. It just opened today. Can I go and register it or it have to be done by the nursery? Any help will be greatly appreciate.

I am not sure about registration, but what is the cross?

I just got permission's from the owner of the cross. Can someone PM me with the step I need to take to get the cross register, or post it here if possible? Thank you

This is my first time register so there are few question on the form I don't understand can someone help me out. If you click on the link Bench post you will see what I mean. Thank you in advance.

1) Seedling number is it the number written on the side of the tag.

2) under GREX there are three question

GENUS

GREX EPITHET (1ST CHOICE)

GREX EPITHET (2ND CHOICE)

3) under PARENT

EPITHET specific or grex epithet
EPITHET varietal or cultivar

1) Seedling number is it the number written on the side of the tag. Not sure about this one but I guess a number that you know this seedling, eg #1.

2) under GREX there are three question

GENUS - Oncidium or whatever the name of the Genus if it is a conglomeration of different genus like if you mix Odontoglossum and Oncidium then your Genus is Odontocidium

GREX EPITHET (1ST CHOICE) - the name you want to call your hybrid

GREX EPITHET (2ND CHOICE) - second choice of a name for your hybrid just in case the first one is already used or is not acceptable.

Make sure that in choosing the name (grex) of your cross, that you check the RHS website to see if the name has been already used. I think you might loose your money if both names are not acceptable.

3) under PARENT - say one of the parents is the species Oncidium sphacelatum 'Bluemoon'

EPITHET specific or grex epithet - you should have two names here, which is the parents of the cross. eg Oncidium sphacelatum

EPITHET varietal or cultivar - if the parents have a particular cultivar. eg 'Bluemoon'
