Need Help Please...

Don't know what to do with this plant... do I repot, are the things sticking need to be cut off, are they dead?







I know this is stupid stuff for you experts ... but I'm lost as to what I need to do. I don't want the whole thing to drop dead on me!

No Worries, Frank. All is fine. That is the way this plant grows. Those are roots coming down from the bulb. You do not need to do anything at this point. Let it grow and enjoy.

Looks great Frank. You're going to have a couple of new plants there, but have to wait until those roots get bigger. What is the name of you chid?

you have a Bulbophyllum...it is not unusual for them to develope aerial growths.. Ones like this I tend to mount or grow in a slat basket for they are difficult to contain in a pot. I wouldn't start a new plant from a single Bulbo growth...it would take 4-5 years to get it to blooming size. I never make a division of less than 3 p-bulbs in this genus, but prefer 5 p-bulbs. A wooden slat basket might be a better choice for you. The new growths can grow on the outside of the basket. I also use treefern pots for rambling species.

The info is much appreciated. I will get the slat planter as soon as I can. Being more or less house bound it may take a little bit. I was not sure what to do so again thanx a lot!!

Katt no use re potting it they won't stay in one , it is just the way they grow , a slat basket works well then just leave it alone .. Gin

These plants can be quite unruly. They're not as cooperative as my nice compact catts...

From what I can see of the plant...it looks healthy and a new lead is starting..that's a good thing!

when I repot it?? If I put it in a good size slat pot will it stop flowering and just do the root thing?
