    Default Couple of Cymbidiums

These are oldies but goodies. On the right is a medium sized cymbidium that is a division of a plant bought in the mid 70's. One the left is a mini that was bought in the late 70's. Very easy, color is a bit off in the picture, add a little brown overtone and they would be right.

Nice show, Diane. Do you grow these out doors as bedding plants or are they potted and brought in from time to time? In your loacation I guess you could use them as landscaping plants....

They are outdoors year round, unless there is a night with frost, then they come inside... My mom still grows these in the ground up in Nor. Cal.

Diane, those are stunning!! I love cyms, but don't have the room to grow them here. We have just a few and they grow like weeds with little care. They just get so big so quick! To be able to grow them as landscape plants - your mom's place must be amazing!

    Cheers,
    BD

Diane those are lovely! I am so impressed that they are plants from the '70s -- talk about evidence of tender loving care--for decades no less. They really are beautiful!

Bruce -- should your cymbids get too big, I'm sure I could help find them (or their divisions) a loving adoptive home.

Wow, those are some nice red cyms, my favourite colour on these plants.

    Diane,

Those are absolutely gorgeous! The wine colored cyms are my favorite. Sadly, most of them don't grow here at all--the burn up and/or never bloom for me.
