I was so sheltered as a kid, if they had taxed me every time I did something stupid, i'd have been in debtors prison by 25! lol

In the Uk it's either stupid names (usually celebrities) or back to old fashioned names, eg Oscar, Thomas, Matthew, Grace. (but don't quote me!)

In Germany, parents actually have to get names for children approved before they will be officially recognized. When you read examples like this, you can really see the sense in that. Though I confess that even though it logically makes sense, something about the law rubs me the wrong way. What do you think?

(Then again, a lot of Germans think it is unfathomable that the government doesn't officially know where you live (here you have to register your home address).)
