    Default Huge C. Porcia!!!!

Here is another sizeable C. Porcia 'Cannizaro' FCC/AOS I just found in the greenhouse! I needed help getting it out the door. Dyna-grow spiked with Superthrive has really been working for me! I'm a six-footer to give you an idea of the size of this plant. The blooms are 9 inches across!!!!

It was a foot tall when it came out of flask!

I have never seen a catt that tall. In fact, I never thought they could grow that tall.

indeed...the lack of a shadow at the base of the pot and the fact that the leaves are out-of-focus in a shot that obviously has good depth-of-field otherwise are dead giveaways.

Heh... Now you know why photos taken for the AOS of plants that have just been awarded are always taken on slide film--two rolls worth per plant.....

Ok, Garland; shadows and better focus next time, huh?

    Louis,
it is certainly possible to use digital photography of orchid award photos and still maintain their integrity. It's more a matter of folks not wanting to embrace change and new technologies than the medium being inherently prone to manipulation.

Prem, yes, I agree that it's certainly possible. I asked specifically why slide film was still being used, and was told that it helped keep the honest people honest. The ease of digital manipulation on the part of potentially unethical folks posed too great a risk. As far as the AOS being unwilling to embrace new technologies is concerned, I can't comment: I would have no idea whether that's true or not.
