Default Officially Spring in SW Fla

The Dove's have declared it officially spring here in SW Florida. We have the first nest full of eggs in the "nesting" orchid basket. Last year she raised 3 broods of 2 young. The mom is very attentive and tidy too. She learned to ignore me in my daily tasks about the lathe house and only gets upset if I get the hose spray too close.

That is too too cute. I really makes me want to live closer to nature...quite literally, I watch a webcam of squirrels and birds in North Pole alaska, and I leave it on ALL day just for the sound of birds....since i live in a high-rise, its the only nature sounds I can really get to This is wonderful about your doves, please keep us posted! I love birds

I'm with you Becky. I also live in highrise and miss nature. I added pair of finches to add some birdsong during the dead of winter. They are currently weaning 6 babies.

FYI - There is a really great CD called "Songbirds By the Stream" by nature sound recording expert Dan Gibson. Just songbirds, no wacky synthesizer New-age stuff! Dan is renowned for his recordings... birds, frogs, toads. Great stuff. Might help you out in the high-rise!

That is so neat. It is way to cold here for the birdies, though we did have a warm day yesterday in the high 60's. I agree with Tami - 'Come on spring!'

How cool. Do they hurt the orchid at all, Bluemoon?
